An overview of Vietnam's economic performance in 2024 and 2025 outlook

Abstract

In 2024, Vietnam’s economy faced many challenges, such as weak recovery of the global economy, monetary policy adjustments in major countries, and low domestic consumption demand. The situation has been exacerbated by natural disasters, particularly Yagi Hurricane, which severely impacted production and livelihoods. Despite these difficulties, Vietnam’s GDP has reached and exceeded target set by the General Assembly. Using secondary data from reputable databases such as the General Statistics Office, State Bank of Vietnam, Widata,... combined with analysis and assessment methods, this paper highlights an overview picture of the economic of Vietnam in 2024, assessing the prospects and challenges for Vietnam’s growth in 2025. Hence, this paper proposes several recommendations and solutions to support promoting Vietnam’s economic growth in 2025.
