Abstract
This article discusses the legal basis, organisation, functions, and competences of the national councils of the judiciary in Canada, France, Italy, and Spain. Although the state apparatuses of these four countries are not alike, they all demonstrate prominent features of the parliamentary system during the process of implementing state power, which is similar to the political system of Vietnam. Thus, a study on the judicial councils of these four countries could suggest good practises benefiting the judicial reform in Vietnam, especially in the context of theResolution No. 27-NQ/TW dated 9/11/2022 on the continuance of reform and improvement of the socialist, rule-of-law-based state in Vietnam in the coming time.
