The efforts of Vietnam in implementing the common objectives of the United Nations on maintainance of international peace and security
Abstract
With a foreign policy of peace, independence, self-reliance, respect and strong commitment toward purposes and objects of United Nations, Vietnam wishes to contribute further to the common effort of the international community on upholding international law and the United Nations Charter, promoting the roles of the United Nations and multilateral mechanisms, especially in the maintenance of international peace and security. This article reviews the efforts of Vietnam in implementing the common objectives of the United Nations on maintenance of international peace and security during the past years, drawing from analysis of global peace and security developments from a legal perspective, and of the responsibilities of United Nations member states under the Charter. Thereby, the article reviews the policy and practical implementation of Vietnam, as well as assesses the achievements made through these efforts.
