The role of the United Nations in the creation, improvement and implementation of international law

Abstract

International law has been considered as an effective and necessary tool for the recognition of the three purposes of the United Nations (UN) defined by the UN Charter to build a rules-based world order. For the past 75 years, the United Nations has been playing a crucial role in the progressive development and codification of international law. It is a center for the negotiation and creation of treaties governing relations between states. The article summarizes the main achievements of the United Nations in the development of the international legal system. It analyzes the functions of UN agencies in the progressive development and codification of international law, the role of the United Nations in perfectionizing the international legal system.  It also analyzes the trend of reforming the United Nations to perfect the international legal system as well as the implementation of international law.
