Copyright infringements in learners’ study and research activities at higher education institutions from the practice of Hanoi Law University and some solutions

Abstract

Higher education institutions are the places where many intellectual works crystallizing the knowledge of lecturers and learners are created. In recent years, institutions have focused on protecting its intellectual property as well as applied implementing measures in practice. However, the copyright infringements still exist, mainly from the learners, which not only limits creative abilities but also exerts negative impacts on the potential for commercializing works. The paper, therefore, analyses the piracy in learners’ research and study activities at Hanoi Law University, figuring out the causes of such infringements, thereby offers several solutions to enhance the effectiveness of copyright protection at higher education institutions in general as well as at Hanoi Law University in particular.
