Ensuring the right to participate in politics of ethnic minority women in international law and Vietnamese law

Abstract

Vietnam is one of the first countries who signed the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women on 29 July 1980 and ratified on 27 November 1981. From that, Vietnam has made continuous efforts in implementing international commitments in the Convention and created equal legal space for the enjoyment of human rights by women, especially in political field. The article analyzes the international legal framework on the rights of ethnic minority women to participate in politics and the transformation process into Vietnamese legal system to point out the barriers and solutions for enhancing the ability of ethnic minority women to enjoy the political rights in Vietnam in the future.
