Abstract

Personal information is one of the major concerns in many countries in the context of the fact that rapid technological changes are creating a flat world without borders. The recent spread of personal information in many countries and territories has detered many individuals from making electronic transations in general and commercial electronic transactions in particular. When establishing the legal framework on personal information protection, the definition of personal information has important role in deciding the scope of law on personal information protection. Therefore, researching the extent of “personal information” definition is essential. This article aims to analyze the extent of “personal information” which is protected by the laws of some countries and draw lessons for Vietnam.
