The causal relationship in the compensation liability for copyright infringement

Abstract

The causal relationship between unlawful acts and damages is one of the grounds that gives rise to the liability to compensate for copyright infringement. Although there are theoretical and legal bases, in fact, the determination of the existence of causality is quite difficult and has not been given adequate attention. The article mentions the causal relationship in liability compensation for infringement of copyright - an abstract and complicated subject - thereby determines the meaning of the causal relationship as a basis for assessing the extent of the damage to be compensated. In addition, a number of disputes in the field of copyright are analyzed and commented to clarify the judicial practice related to this issue.
