Abstract

Constitutionalism has been the focus of studies of many scholars in different aspects; however, the common opinion is that this doctrine aims at limiting the State power with the fundamental law. This article analyses the definition, nature and components of Constitutionalism. Based on the common viewpoint on Constitutionalism of different scholars, the article determines that there are 7 components of this doctrine, which are: the supreme sovereignty that belongs to the people; rules of law; the distribution of power and restraint among counterpoises; the independence of the court; the guarantee of human rights and citizen rights; the control and supervision of power; and the protection of Constitution.
