SOME THEORETICAL ISSUES ON CONSTITUTIONALISM
Abstract
Together with the concept of rule of law, the concept of constitutionalism has been imported into Vietnam since the early 20th century. However, while the rule of law is heatedly researched and discussed, constitutionalism is rarely mentioned by local academic community of Vietnam at present. This paper analyses some core theoretical aspects of constitutionalism, aiming to provide a more comprehensive and clearer perception on this concept in Vietnam. It is argued in the paper that constitutionalism is closely related to the rule of law and other modern theories on state and thus research and application of constitutionalism principles plays an important role in building the socialist rule-of-law state in Vietnam at present.
