DEVELOPMENT OF GREEN BANKS - CURRENT SITUATION AND DIRECTIONS TO IMPROVE THE POLICY AND LAW OF VIETNAM

Abstract

The paper analyses and assesses to clarify overall issues of green bank, the mutual relationship between the operation of green banks and the environmental protection in the positive impacts on the economic development, social stability and environmental protection. It also points out some limitations in awareness and inadequacies of the law of Vietnam regarding incentive mechanisms, investment costs, sources of capital and legal framework to support the implementation of green credit and green banking. On that basis, the paper offers some directions and solutions to overcome and improve the legal framework and the mechanism and policy on tax, finance, capital, techniques, market and responsibilities of related stakeholders to improve the quality and efficiency of construction and development of green banks in Vietnam.
