  • Hoàng Văn Nghĩa

Abstract

Respecting, protecting and promoting human rights in general and freedom to religion in particular is always considered as a primary duty and obligation of member states to related conventions.  As an active and responsible member to those conventions, Vietnam performs in good faith international commitments on human rights as well as freedom of religion, especially to continously internalise them. The paper analyses the achievements of Vietnam in internalising and implementing the conventions on freedom of religion, especially afer the 2013 Constiution. On the basis of analysing the challenges to implementing freedom of religion in the context of promoting international integration and market-oriented economy development in our country at present, the paper offers proposals to continously enhance the effectiveness of internalising and implementing freedom of religion in which strengthening the respect for, and guarantee of human rights in accordance with the spirit of the 2013 Constitution is centred.
