Abstract

As one of the developed countries which used to be rather cautious with the internet, the law of the French Republic has so far included several provisions on online information. These legal provisions are supplemented and amended in accordance with the law of the European Union to which France is a member. Those provisons, on the one hand, protect freedom of information and, on the other hand, regulate legal risks arising from the cyber environment, especially the risks of infringing upon privacy and protection of personal data on the internet. The paper offers an overview of the regulation of the law of the French Public of some fundamental human rights related to the cyber environment such as: freedom of information; right to protection of personal data on the internet; right to privacy; and right to be forgotten on the internet.
