Legal regulation on protecting water environment in river basin in Vietnam - Theoretical issues

Abstract

By offering an analysis to clarify the concept and characteristics of water environment in river basin and the law on protection of  water environment in river basin, the paper argues that the development and improvement of the law of Vietnam in this area should be based on  universal legal principles for protection of water environment in river basis as well as be consistent with the historical, natural, economic, cultural and social characteristics of Vietnam. On that basis, the paper suggests the content of developing and improving the law on protection of water environmentin  river basin in Vietnam, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the development and implementation of the law in this area in order to control the pollution and degradation of water resources towards sustainable development.
