The law ensuring the right to freedom of association in Vietnam at present
Abstract
In Vietnam, the right of association is a contitutional right of every citizen which has been acknowledged in the Constitutions throughout the history. The first document detailing the right of association is Decree No.102/SL-L004 dated 20/5/1957 to promulgate the Law on the right of assocation (the legal effect of this Decree currently remains). As a long period of development has passed, the practice of Vietnam requires a more updated Law to regulate the right of association of the people. This paper is a study of the current practice of Vietnam with regard to ensuring the right to freedom of association and on that basis offers some comments on the current draft Law on associations prepared by the Government.
