Abstract

Visual arts education at the secondary school level has gradually affirmed its role in shaping students’ aesthetic values. Teachers serve as the central force and play a decisive role in its effectiveness. They directly influence, guide, and impart knowledge, skills, and aesthetic thinking to learners. Therefore, the professional qualifications and teaching methods of visual arts teachers are crucial to students’ learning outcomes. Enhancing teachers’ competencies and instructional approaches is an urgent requirement to meet the evolving demands of the new educational model. This study clarifies the concepts of visual arts, educational objectives, and the role of teachers while investigating the current state of teachers’ visual arts teaching in several secondary schools in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province. The research identifies professional limitations among teachers and proposes several solutions aimed at improving teaching effectiveness for visual arts educators in the area.
