THE GATEWAY TO THE VILLAGE IN PHUONG DUC VILLAGE, PHU XUYEN, HANOI

Abstract

In the ancient villages of the Red River Delta, in the past, in addition to building village gates, many alleys in the village also had alley gates. The gate acts as the symbol of the whole neighborhood, so people in the alley try to give it the best looks in possible conditions. Many villages today still retain the old gateways, creating an ancient look for the village and creating a culture specific to a northern village, in which, the alley gate in Phuong Duc village, Phu Xuyen, Hanoi are ancient architectural works that are appreciated for their aesthetic point of view as well as the cultural value they create.
