THE FEATURED TECHNIQUES IN TRADITIONAL CHEO SINGING

Abstract

Cheo is a type of theater, singing techniques and performing arts that represent the personalities of many specific characters in society. Cheo melodies are very methodical and rich to express a variety of dramatic situations as well as the
emotional states and levels of characters in each play. Therefore, the expression while singing as well as the singing technique is very diverse and rich. In order to sing the right "quality" of Cheo, it is first necessary to understand and distinguish the characteristics of the singing style, which have been summed up by folk sayings when discussing the art of Cheo singing such as: Singing without a breath , instant voice, press, pause, vibrating, bouncing. This article focuses on explaining the technical characteristics of Cheo's singing, giving his own interpretation of the sound, and determining the singing technique. Thereby contributing to improving the quality of training Cheo singing skills for students of the Central University of Arts and Education.
