Abstract

The traditional stilt house of the Brau people not only serves as a place to live
but also embodies many ethnic values. Over time, with changes in lifestyle, living habits,
production, and the impact of State support policies, the houses of the Brau people have
undergone specific changes. Until now, the Brau people have had four types of houses: stilt
houses, one-storey wooden houses, one-storey brick houses, and stilt houses on swidden
fields; the type of one-storey wooden house has existed for the shortest time. In this article,
the author focuses on two current types of houses - one-storey brick houses and stilt houses
on swidden fields - to highlight the changes in living space and reflect the perspectives of
different Brau generations living in modern houses.
