Abstract
From a cultural and gender perspective, this article analyses the spontaneous labour migration activities of Bru-Van Kieu women in Quang Binh Province. The article highlights profound gender inequality in labour migration opportunities, where women are frequently constrained by traditional gender roles, stereotypes regarding virtue, and family responsibilities, while men are encouraged to migrate as a manifestation of responsibility. Factors such as low educational levels, lack of skills, and the absence of gender-sensitive policies further exacerbate barriers for women. The article also contributes to elucidating how socio-cultural factors and gender norms shape the migration behaviour of ethnic minority women.
