Some Issues on the Relations of Ethnic-Religious Groups in the Development of Ha Tien City, Kien Giang Province

Abstract

Despite numerous studies on ethnic-religious groups in our country, focusing on their religious activities and relations with the Vietnamese nation, there remains a dearth of research on the relationships of these groups in coastal and island regions of Vietnam. Drawing on field survey data and existing documents, this article aims to elucidate certain issues regarding the relationships among ethnic-religious groups among coastal residents of Ha Tien city, Kien Giang province. It analyses relationships pertinent to economic activities, social development, and the preservation of culture, religion, and traditional beliefs. Subsequently, the study proposes several recommendations for strengthening intergroup relationships, fostering cultural amalgamation of religions and traditional beliefs, and preserving stability and solidarity among ethnic residents and ethnic-religious groups. These efforts aim to contribute to bolstering the security and defence posture along the coasts and islands of our country.
