Current situation multidimensional poverty of the Kho Mu people in Mai Son district, Son La province and Muong Lat district, Thanh Hoa province

Abstract

The article uses field data to assess the multidimensional poverty situation in two Kho Mu communities in Muong Lat district (Western Thanh Hoa province) and Mai Son district (Son La province) to elaborate the insight limitations of these ethnic groups as well as the external viewpoint on the poverty situation of the Kho Mu people. The article argues that the bottleneck in the poverty reduction policy for underdeveloped ethnic groups that makes them lag is the inability of encouraging their inner strength as a source of internal development for self-improvement. Whereas, ethnic policy implementation is supposed to be a factor promoting the efforts and support of the ethnic community development itself.
