Abstract

In the last 30 years (1990-2021), the US economy has suffered several major shocks including the bursting of the technology bubble in the late 1990s, the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center (WTO) in New York City in 2001, followed by record high world oil prices and the US financial market crisis, as well as Covid-19 pandemic since 2020. The US Government has made various polices to respond to these shocks, which have resulted in remarkably different economic growth and inflation rates in each period. The paper summarizes the diverse developmental process of the US economy over 30 years.
