Biofloc technology (BFT) – the new trends for aquculture

Biofloc technology (BFT) is considered the "blue revolution" in aquaculture because of its advantages in biological applications based on microorganims production. The creation and maintenance of suspended floc particles in the pond will process the organic waste and become a natural food source for the cultured species, reducing the feed conversion ratio (FCR) and decreasing of feed costs. Biofloc technology improves water quality in aquaculture through the balance of carbon and nitrogen (C/N) in the system which increases biosecurity and reduces risk of pathogens. With its diversified advantages, the model has become a trend to create big changes in Vietnam's Aquaculture, promising to achieve sustainability.
