Experience of Cuba and Slovenia in legalization of same sex marriages – suggestions for Vietnam

Abstract

On September 2022, Cuba and Slovenia have legalized same sex marriage and approved measures and laws to protect rights of same sex couples such as child adoption and surrogacy. While the legalization of same sex marriage in Cuba was accomplished by a referendum, in Slovennia it was based on a Supreme Court ruling. The article analyzes a number of factors affecting the legalization of same-sex marriage in these two countries and suggests prospect for Vietnam.
