Ba Giồng là vùng đất có bề dày lịch sử đáng kể trong công cuộc Nam tiến và khai hoang lập ấp ở đồng bằng sông Cửu Long. Địa danh này gắn liền với nhiều sự kiện lịch sử quan trọng do nằm ở vị trí chiến lược trên đường từ Sài Gòn xuống miền Tây. Ba Giồng cũng là quê hương của nhiều bậc hào kiệt, trí thức và văn nghệ sĩ nổi tiếng ở miền Nam. Thế nhưng, từ trước đến nay, vai trò đặc biệt quan trọng của vùng đất này vẫn chưa được nghiên cứu một cách tường tận.

Bài viết nhằm tìm hiểu chi tiết về địa danh Ba Giồng, lưu dân người Việt đến đây từ lúc nào, trung tâm hành chính của vùng đất này ở đâu, cũng như điểm qua những sự kiện lịch sử đã xảy ra ở đây.

ABSTRACT

Ba Giồng played an important part in the historical southward migration movement of the nation as well as the development of the Mekong Delta. This place was also closely linked to a lot of historical events related to different places in the South from Sài Gòn to the region of the six provinces in the West. The regions is also the homeland of many national heroes, scholars and artists of the South. Nevertheless, up to the present, the important role of this region has not been thoroughly studied.

This article put forward a study on Ba Giồng: The time of the Vietnamese immigrants’ first arrival on the land, the location of its administrative centre, as well as the remarkable historical events related to the place.
