Về yếu tố nước trong lễ hội Ok-om-bok của đồng bào Khmer đồng bằng sông Cửu Long/Water in Ok-om-bok Festival of Khmer People in Mekong Delta

Ok-om-bok là lễ hội lớn của đồng bào Khmer ở đồng bằng sông Cửu Long được tổ chức vào ngày rằm tháng 10 âm lịch hàng năm, thời điểm vừa thu hoạch xong vụ lúa mùa và là cao điểm của mùa nước nổi trong năm. Ngoài phần lễ chính thức Ok-om-bok (đút cốm dẹp) còn có phần hội đua ghe Ngo kèm theo lễ thả đèn nước, đèn gió và các hoạt động vui chơi giải trí khác như múa lăm-thol, múa xà-dăm, diễn tuồng rô-băm, dù-kê và hát à-day. Ngoài hội đua ghe Ngo phải tổ chức ban ngày, hầu hết các nghi thức của lễ hội Ok-om-bok đều diễn ra ban đêm. Tổng hợp các yếu tố “ban đêm”, “nước lớn”, “trăng tròn” có ý nghĩa nhấn mạnh yếu tố “âm tính” nhằm cảm tạ thần nước đã phò trợ cho mùa màng tươi tốt, vạn vật sinh sôi và đưa tiễn nước trở lại về nguồn (biển). Vì nước được người Khmer hình tượng hóa thành mặt trăng nên lễ hội Ok-om-bok cũng được gọi là lễ cúng trăng (Bund Thvai-pres-khe).

ABSTRACT

Ok-om-bok, a great festival of the Khmer people in the Mekong Delta, is held annually  on October 15 (Lunar calendar), which is the time point for the main harvest of the year as well as the climax of the annual flood in the area. Beside the official ritual of Ok-Om-Bok (đút cốm dẹp) there is also a boat race, a show of floating lanterns and flying lanterns and other recreations for the people such as “lămthol” dance, “xà dăm” dance, “rô-băm” and “dù kê” plays, “à-day” singing. Except the race of “Ngo” boats that should be organized in the day time, almost all the other recreations are held at night. The choice of the factors “night time”, “rise of the river”, “full moon”, are to emphasize the element “yan”, which consequently express the people’s gratitude to the Goddess of Water who has helped the crops to be in a good condition, animals and plants to grow well, and lead water back to its source (the sea). Since water is symbolized by the Khmer people in the form of the moon, Ok-om-bok festival is also called “Bun Thvai-pres-khe”.
