Abstract

Phong tục tập quán và đời sống tinh thần của người dân đảo Phú Quý mang đậm nét văn hóa của cư dân vùng biển, đảo Việt Nam. Do sống biệt lập giữa biển khơi, trước đây, đời sống của đồng bào còn nhiều lạc hậu, với nhiều tập tục mê tín dị đoan. Ngày nay, người dân đảo Phú Quý sẵn sàng tiếp nhận ánh sáng văn minh từ khắp nơi mang đến, nhưng có điều “nhập gia tùy tục”, ở đây “dễ ăn khó ở” nếu không chịu khó tìm hiểu những tập tục từ xưa của địa phương.

ABSTRACT

The customs and spiritual life of the people on Phú Quý island own features typical of life on off-shore islands. Due to their isolated life out in the sea, in the past the people were backward, with a lot of superstitious habits. Nowadays, they are willing to  receive civilization from the outside world, but a newcomer here should “nhập gia tùy tục” [amend his way to the local customs]. It is often said if one does not get to learn the locals’ traditional customs, then he will find it easy to make a living here, but quite hard to stay with the people.
