Đi tìm tạp chí phổ biến khoa học đầu tiên ở Việt Nam: "Khoa-học Tập-chí"/ In search of the first magazine disseminating science in Vietnam: “Khoa-học Tập-chí”.

Tóm tắt

Căn cứ vào nguồn tư liệu báo chí Việt Nam lưu trữ tại Thư viện Quốc gia Pháp (Bibliothèque Nationale Française-BNF), tác giả xác định được tờ Khoa-học Tập-chí (Revue de Vulgarisation Scientifique) là tờ báo tiếng Việt phổ biến khoa học đầu tiên ở Việt Nam và đã giới thiệu sơ lược về tờ tạp chí này. Theo đó, Khoa-học Tập-chí xuất bản được 156 số (căn cứ theo số báo cuối cùng nộp lưu chiểu tại BNF) trong 3 năm, từ 1923 đến 1926.

Báo do bác sĩ Trần Văn Đôn làm chủ nhiệm (Directeur-Gérant) và một Ban biên tập gồm những trí thức nổi tiếng của Nam Kỳ đầu thế kỷ XX như Bùi Quang Chiêu, Lưu Văn Lang, Nguyễn Văn Xuân, Nguyễn Văn Hinh, Trần Quang Nghiêm…

Dù vậy, Khoa-học Tập-chí cũng chỉ tồn tại được trong một thời gian ngắn rồi chìm vào quên lãng. Phải chăng, số phận của nó và của các tạp chí khoa học phổ thông khác ra đời theo chủ trương “khai dân trí” của tầng lớp sĩ phu vào đầu thế kỷ XX đã phản ánh những truân chuyên trên con đường tiến vào khoa học của xã hội Việt Nam, những truân chuyên mà chúng ta còn thấy ngày nay, gần một thế kỷ sau?

ABSTRACT

Based on Vietnamese journal sources archived at the French National Library (Bibliothèque Nationale Française), the author found that the “Khoa học Tập chí” magazine (Revue de Vulgarisation Scientifique) was the  first magazine disseminating science in Vietnam and he briefly introduced it. According to him, 156 editions of the magazine were issued (based on the last registration of copyright at the French National Library) during 3 years, from 1923 to 1926.

Dr. Trần Văn Đôn was the director (Directeur-Gerant) of the magazine, and the editorial board composed of such renowned intellectuals in Southern Vietnam in the early twentieth century as Bùi Quang Chiêu, Lưu Văn Lang, Nguyễn Văn Xuân, Nguyễn Văn Hinh and Trần Quang Nghiêm, etc...

Although the editorial board had made great efforts in disseminating scientific knowledge, the magazine only  existed in a short time and then sank into oblivion. Is it true that the destiny of “Khoa học Tập chí” magazine and other popular scientific journals advocating “the broadening of the people’s minds” of the intellectuals in the early 20th century reflected the difficulties of Vietnamese society on the road approaching science which still exists until now.
