Hiện nay, có ba quan niệm khác nhau về vị trí của giai thoại, với sự trùng khớp khá thú vị: nhà nghiên cứu thuộc lĩnh vực nào thì xác định giai thoại thuộc lĩnh vực ấy. Cụ thể, nhóm các tác giả nghiên cứu văn học viết cho giai thoại thuộc văn học viết, nhóm các tác giả nghiên cứu văn học, văn hóa dân gian cho giai thoại thuộc văn học dân gian, nhóm các tác giả nghiên cứu lịch sử cho giai thoại thuộc lịch sử.
Sau khi phân tích các luận điểm, sự việc liên quan đến vấn đề đặt ra, liệt kê các bộ sưu tập giai thoại hiện hành, bài viết kết luận: giai thoại gồm nhiều bộ phận, nhiều loại, mỗi loại giai thoại cụ thể trước hết thuộc vào chỉnh thể liên quan, tiếp đó, thuộc vào hệ thống giai thoại, với tư cách là một loại hình văn hóa của dân tộc. Tức cho tổng thể giai thoại là một thể loại thuộc văn học dân gian (hay thuộc văn học viết, thuộc lịch sử), là không chuẩn xác.
Trước tình hình khá im ắng trong việc tìm hiểu giai thoại suốt nửa thế kỷ nay, một kết luận như vậy có thể hy vọng vấn đề sẽ được các nhà nghiên cứu quan tâm hơn.
ABSTRACT
IS ANECDOTE A GENRE OF FOLK LITERATURE?
At present, there are three different conceptions about the position of anecdotes, with interesting coincidence: researchers of any field determine the anecdote of his own. Specifically, the author group studying on writing literature believes that anecdotes belong to writing literature, the author group studying on literature and folklore asserts that anecdotes belong to folk literature, the author group studying on history thinks that anecdotes belong to history.
After analyzing these theoretical points and issues related to the question and listing the collection of current anecdotes, this article concludes that anecdotes consist of many parts, many types, each type of specific anecdotes initially belongs to the perfect whole concerned, then depends on the system of anecdotes, as a type of national culture. It means that the conception considering anecdotes as a genre of folklore (or of writing literature, of history) is not accurate.
With the quiet situation in studying about anecdote during the past half- century, such a conclusion would attract more concerns from researchers in this field.
