Abstract

Seroprevalence of antibody against Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) of the Fayoumi chickens raising in Dong Anh district, Ha Noi City was evaluated by Rapid Serum Plate Agglutination Test with 880 serum samples. The tested results showed that in average, the rate of chicken infected with MG was 30.22%. The highest prevalence (36.28%) was recorded for the chicken group older than 20 weeks of age, followed by 8 - 20 week old group (29.69%) and the lowest (20.50%) for the chicken group under 8 weeks of age. The main MG-related gross lesions including airsac-culitis, pneumonia, pericarditis, liver lesions, and arthritis accounted for 84%, 78%, 58 %, 42% and 38% respectively. Histological examination revealed clearly lesions in the trachea and the lung. Loss of cilia and degeneeration and metaplasma of epithelial cells, infiltrated lymphocytes and histiocytes were observed in the trachea. Scattered hyperplasia or degeneeration of epithelial cells in the bronchi 2, 3 and branch bronchi was observed in lung. Accumulation of lymphocytes in the interartrial and interparabronchus septums was also seen. The above mentioned pathological changes indicate that the Fayoumi chicken flocks can be suffered with MG associating with other pathogenes.
