Research on edoscopic images and histological examination of gastric polyps in Viet Tiep Hospital 2023
Abstract
Background: Gastric polyps are lesions originating from the epithelium or submucosal layer. The risk of malignant transformation of polyps is closely related to endoscopic findings and histopathology. The study was conducted to describe the endoscopic and histopathological characteristics of gastric-duodenal polyps in patients who came for examination and treatment at the Endoscopy and Functional Investigation Department of Viet-Tiep Friendship Hospital. Patients and Methods: Cross Setional Study over 408 patients diagnosed gastric or duodenum polyps by gastrointestinal endoscopy in Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital from January to August 2023. Results: The rate of gastric and duodenum polyps was 2.8%. The proportion of gastric and duodenum polyps were 86.27% and 13.73% respectively. The rate of polyps in men was higher than in women. Patients were mainly in the age group of 40-59 years old. 69.60% of patients has single polyp. Normal surface of the polyp was 85.61%. The proportion of sessile polyp was 95.83%. Conclusion: The major of gastric polyp is benign, the proportion of malignant potential polyps was 1.49%.
