APPLYING COMPOSITE STRUCTURE FOR RAISING FIRE RESISTANCE OF STEEL BEAM

Abstract

Using composite structure as a fire precaution measure is more and more popular inmodern construction. According to experimental reseachs for investigating mechanicalproperties of steel, concrete and behaviour of composite structure at elevated temperature, amethod to calculate fire resistance of composite beam is present in this paper.The sagging and hogging moment resistances in fires are calculated basing on thedetermination of the development and distribution of the temperature within structural elementsof cross-section. The effect of temperature is taken into account either by reducing thedimensions of the parts of cross-section or by multiplying the characteristic mechanicalproperties of materials by a reduction factor. The method may be used for many differentstandard fire classes.
