ELECTROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SULFIDE AND POSSIBILITY OF ITS DETECTION IN THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Trương Duy Hướng

Abstract

This  paper  presents  the  most  recent  results  of  reduction  of  sulfide  at  glassy  carbon  and carbon  fiber  microelectrodes. The enhancement  in the reductive  current recorded  in the presence of sulfide  in sulfuric  acid  0.05  M, allowed  linear ranges up to 8.8 ppm for sulfide  detection to be
achieved.  Furthermore,  the  use  of  voltammetry  produced  a  limit  of  detection  of  0.14  ppm  at carbon  fiber  microeiectrode  plated  mercury  and  0.19  ppm  at  bare  carbon  fiber  microeiectrode. This  opens  a  possibility  to  directly  detect  sulfide  in  the  environment  using  microeiectrode combined  voltammetry  technique
