Developing Open Web – Based Insect Library

Abstract

    Insects are an extremely diverse layer of animals on the planet. They affect the life and welfare of humans in many different ways. Despite some remarkable publications on insects in Viet Nam such as the book entitled “Côn trùng và động vật hại nông nghiệp Việt Nam”(Agricultural insects and pests in Viet Nam) by Vietnamese entomologists, there have not been any systematic websites or online libraries. Therefore, we have studied ASP.Net technology and SQL Server database management and collected data on insects to develop an useful application. Our aim was to create an online database system of insects, particularly those of agricultural significance. This application allows community to access and share information on insects in general and agricultural pests in particular.
