Assessment of Implementing Compensation, Support and Resettlement in the Course of Land Acquisition for Infrastructure Projects in Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province

Abstract

     This study aimed to investigate the current performance in compensation, supports and resettlement in Van Don District. Data collection, survey, synthesis and comparative method were used to evaluate the compensation, supports and resettlement of 2 key projects in Van Don District. Most of the land owners agreed that the compensation, supports and resettlement have been implemented on time and complied with the laws. However, there were some limitations related to conpensation (compensation price lower than market value; payment by cash). Proposed solutions for these problems are Improving the capacity of institution in managing land, especially, in terms of land registry; compensation policy diversification; long-term aids and employment policies.
