Reproductive Capacity of Ri Chicken and Crossbred Chicken Raised in An Duong District, Hai Phong City

Abstract

       A study was carried out at 3 households of An Duong district, Hai Phong city to evalue reproductive capacity of Ri and crossbred chicken (Ri-Sasso-Luong Phuong) (RSL). Results showed that the rate of survival of Ri and RSL chicken were high and they were well adapted to local conditions. Body weight of crossbred chicken was higher than Ri chicken at 01 day, 8 and 19 weeks of age. Reproductive maturity age of crossbred chicken (145 days) was later than Ri chicken (131 days). Reproductive peak of crossbred chicken was at 30 weeks of age as compared with 26 weeks for Ri chicken. The egg quality parameters of Ri and crossbred chickens met specified standards and hatchability and chick quality were similar.
