Abstract

Lavender (Lavandula dentate) is a plant species with high economic values because it is grown as ornamental plant, and for aromatherapy and herbs. Lavender essential oil has been used as insect repellent, tranquilizers and antibacterial agents. In this study, the effect of concentrations of BA and NAA on the budding and rooting capacity of Lavandula dentata in vitro was investigated. After 6 weeks of in vitro culture, MS medium supplemented with BA 1.5 mg/L was most suitable for shoot buds multiplication. Then, these buds were transferred to MS medium supplemented with BA 0.75 mg/L suitable for bud growth, and MS medium supplemented with NAA 0.75 mg/L was suitable for lavender root formation and the highest survival rate ex vitro was at 78.89% with coconut coir.

Keywords: BA, NAA, in vitro, Lavender (Lavandula dentata).
