English a Subject and a discripline at HUBT: Today and Tomorrow

Abstract

It is intended to cover a long journey a 25 years foungding and developing of the English language studies as a subject (basis English for various professional areas) and as a discripline (English language discripline) at Hanoi University of Business and Technology with its academic performance filled with perspectives. The article focused on: (i) the intial successes thought ups and down in the early days of the establishment; (ii) the vigorous changes and development seen as a sign of motive forces, not only human resources but also academic programmes and facility, realy for a boom to match with other educating & training institutions accredited in North Vietnam; (iii) the reshape of the Faculty of English Language Studies by combining Bachalor’s Degree and Master’s Degree of English in single one, wich identified its academic strategy to produce best products of the English Language Discripline.
