Common mistakes made by students in written translation and solution

Abstract

The study aims to identify and classify the most common mistakes in translation practice made by third-year students at Faculty of English Language Studies, HUBT. Based on the most common mistakes in translation practice and in written tests made by third-year students in different classes, the study comes to the conclusion that there are three common groups of mistakes: Language group, Personal experience group relates to Background knowledge group. The reasons leading to the mistakes have been analysed and some suggestions for both students and teachers are also outlined in this study to help students limit mistakes in the process of learning and doing translation
