Organizing and Implementing the Task of "Social Supervision and Criticism" by the Vietnamese State in History

Abstract

In order to implement the strategy of building a "Revolutionary state of the people, by the people, and for the people", the Vietnam Communist Party and State pay great attention on organizing and implementing the task of social "supervision" and "criticism" from the central to the local levels. A research of this task in the feudal time and during the period from the August revolution (1945) to the unification of Vietnam (1975) provides the today state with useful historical experiences. In this article I would like to focus on the following aspects: i) the experiences of the organization of social supervision and criticism during the Ly, Tran, Le, Nguyen dynasties; ii) the mechanism of the organization of social supervision and criticism during the Le-Trinh and Mac dynasties (1427-1788); iii) the social supervision and criticism under the Nguyen dynasty; iv) a recapitulation of the objects and aims of the social supervision and criticism from the Ly dynasty to the Nguyen dynasty; v) inheriting the heritage of social supervision and criticism in the past and; vi) historical experiences and lessons.
