Some Features on the Cao Bang Tin Miners Under the French Domination
Abstract
The French colonialism, along with her administrative rules in Cao Bang in the late decades of nineteenth century, began investigation, survey and exploitation of minerals, especially tin mining and wolfram along Pic Oac (in Nguyen Binh district). Aiming at profiting much more from the above valuable natural sources, the French colonialism thoroughly exploited miners' labors under various ways.
This article tries to reconstruct destitute living condition of the Pic Oac's laborers by ruses and exploitations from mining owners, taskmasters and French colonialist lackeys. Bad living condition led miners to revolt. Under the leading of the Communists, miners in Cao Bang regained powers and then became true owners over rich mining area of the Country.
