On the Opposition to the Coercive Migration in North Vietnam, Late 1954-Early 1955
Abstract
After the Geneva Accord in July 1954, the United States considered the coercive migration of people from North to South Vietnam an important strategy. Thus, a number of Americans were sent to Kien An, Hai Phong to carry out this plan, aiming at destroying the economy of North Vietnam which had been largely devastated during the first Indochina War, causing the political disorder in Vietnam, and smearing the repute of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
This article aims to introduce the opposition to the coercive migration in North Vietnam in late 1954 and early 1955.
