Philippines and the First Globalization

  • Giráldez Arturo

Abstract

The first globalization was an atmosphere over the seventeenth-century planet, without any privileged centre. American, European, African and Asian people, regardless of their social class or political parties, now relized that their societies were transforming rapidly under an economic push which was created by nobody's will. Silver became the international money in the global trade. The effect of this globalization was formidable: transformation of global environment due to the introduction of new plants. This could be considered the prelude to the first globalization and the Philippines was the rendezvous of this transformation.
