FACTORS AFFECTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY IN VIETNAM

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the key factors affecting the growth and development of the digital economy in Vietnam. Based on data collected from 267 managers and enterprises in the three core cities with high growth rates in Vietnam’s digital economy. The research used analysis methods comprising descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s Alpha analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and multiple linear regression. The research results showed that 6 factors in the proposed research model include State policies, human capital, research & development and innovation, digital infrastructure, business environment, and information security have a significant positive impact on the development of the digital economy. In which, it is most affected by the factor “digital infrastructure” and the weakest impact is the “business environment” factor. For the theoretical, this research result makes a great contribution to the development of knowledge in the digital economy and determines the relationship of the factors affecting the development of the digital economy in Vietnam. The results brought several practical implications for the Government, policy planners, and enterprises to realize the factors that play an important role in the development of the digital economy. Thereby, a number of solutions to the level of digital economy development are recommended for Vietnam in the future.
