IMPACTS OF THE EVFTA ON THE EXPORTATION OF VIETNAM’S WOOD AND WOODEN PRODUCTS TO THE EU MARKET

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the quantitative impacts of the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) on the growth of Vietnam’s wood and articles of wood exportation to the EU market. Quantitative analysis method is conducted through SMART model with data of export values of wood and articles of woods (six-digit HS code) and a scenario in which tariffs are reduced to 0% once the EVFTA comes into force. The result shows that Vietnam wood and articles of wood exportation to the EU shall grow slightly upon the EVFTA is legally effective. Then some implications are suggested to promote exporting Vietnam wood and articles of wood to the EU market in the coming time.
