CURRENT STATUS OF PESTICIDE USE AND WILLINGNESS TO PAY (WTP) TO REDUCE HEALTHY RISKS OF VEGETABLE PRODUCTION ACTIVITIES – CASE STUDY IN BINH CHANH DISTRICT

Abstract

This study assessed the status of pesticide use and willingness to pay (WTP) surveys to reduce healthy risks due to exposure to pesticides and analyzed the marginal effects. In recent times, the concern about the use of pesticides is rising rapidly, the normal vegetable producers tended to use more pesticides and exceed recommended doses compared to VietGAP’s group. Furthermore, the regression model contributed to explain the changes in farmers' WTP. The estimation results represent the factors that can affect the WTP are variables. In which, the study showed agricultural promotion (X3), income (X4), the amount of pesticides group I&II (X5), the frequency of exposure of pesticides group I&II (X7) and the dummy variable GAP (GAP) were statistically significant.
