THE IMPACT OF FIRM CHARACTERISTICS ON EARNINGS MANAGEMENT: AN EVIDENCE FROM VIETNAMESE LISTED COMPANIES

Abstract

Accounting profits of the business are that the most common measure of business operating results. The separation of ownership and management business enterprises brings many advantages such as the transfer of ownership does not affect the business operations of the business while hiring professional managers to make implementation of corporate goals. However, leads to a more prominent issue - the issuing agency, also known as the problem of conflicts of interest between managers and owners. The result of this study provides empirical evidence for the relationship between earnings management and firm characteristics in 100 companies listed before 2009 on Vietnamese Stock Exchange in the period 2012 - 2014. The findings show that profit and size of the company affect on earnings management.
