THE COMPETITIVENESS OF VIETNAM TEA PRODUCT EXPORTING TO RUSSIA

Abstract

In the process of international economic integration, improving the competitveness of export goods is a top task. Of all, agricultural products has contributed a significant part to the total export turnover of all nation. In particular, in 2015 export tea reached over 212 million USD, which was ranked 8th in the world in terms of export turnover. Russia is a major tea consumption and import market of the world, Vietnam exported 14.943 tonnes of tea to Russia, accounting for nearly 12% of the country's total tea exports, earning over 22 million USD (International Trade Center, 2015). With M. Porter's diamond model and by means of comparison, the competitiveness of tea product exporting to Russia and the position of Vietnam tea with other countries have been clarified. Despite the possession of favourable conditions brought by nature, the products is not high-quality, mainly raw materials exported, so they cannot sell at a higher rate and still occupy a small market share in Russia.
