VENTURE CAPITAL ACTIVITIES IN VIETNAM: GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION AND PRIVATE INVESTMENT IN STARTUPS

Abstract

Venture capital plays an important role in supporting start-ups. This study was conducted to clarify the necessity and the actual situation of Government intervention and private investment in venture capital in Vietnam. Thereby, this study proposed solutions to improve the effectiveness of Government intervention and private investment in venture capital activities. This research also showed that the Government intervention in venture capital activities is extremely necessary. However, venture capital market in Vietnam has not actually made the breakthrough to take the economy to the take-off stage, because of the confusing in chosing the intervention form of Government and the legal loopholes, the development of this market was obstructed. Therefore, Government shoud provide specific solutions in order to improve the effectiveness of Government intervention and attract private investors in venture capital..
